I have a problem that I need urgent help with today.
I am sorry if it is in the wrong place on the forum so mods please feel free to move. ( I have also posted under I wanna..............I hope this is OK?)
I work 20 hours on a flexible (to suit business needs) contract. These hours were promised to be given to me on a 6 months basis when I accepted the job 10 months ago.
I am still not getting more than a few days notice before changes are given to me and expected to be complied with.
I have 4 children aged 15, 13 and 3 and I am finding it very difficult to accommodate this, but my Mother-in-law helps out.
So here my dilemma. On Thursday when I arrived in work my schedule has been COMPLETELY changed from working 2 long shifts, to 5 short shifts, starting Monday.
My Mother-in-law has had enough of the short notice and has said she cannot/willnot help. (and who can blame her?).
I sent a mail to my Manager asking him to call me at home on Friday to discuss this and he has not even bothered.
I work in a company that does not give a toss about its workers but I have a job that I love doing and it is well paid.
What can I do? I have tried searching the net for guidelines as too weather they can do this too me but its all so confusing?
Please help if you can as I am dreading going to work tomorrow and feel there will be confrontation.

Thanks for your help guys!
Mt contract states that I am flexible across 8 am --9pm 7 days a week.
I really don't have a problem with this as these are the hours that I accepted my position on.
However my contract says I will have a 3 months schedule to show my hours, and as yet i am not even being given a weeks notice of a change!!
Any help is gratefully received and I'm going to check out the website link offered on a reply post.
Thanks again.

Hi, Gillian.
Good - you have the 3-month schedule in your written details. That's what you must refer to.
Your original post mentioned a promise of a 6 months basis. It sounded as though that was a verbal promise, not in writing. What you have in writing from them is what is important IMO.
Good luck
