Garden shed near house. Issues?

If placing a standard garden shed in the back yard of a house (possibly 6'x4', made from either wood, plastic or metal) are there are regulations on how far it must be from the house?

From what I've read online there laws in some places (however it was in USA I was reading about) which mean a shed can only be placed a certain distance from a house due to potential fire risk.

Does anything like that apply in NI?

you can place it where you like within reason .
You shouldnt place it against a wall but thats just to let the air circulate and to avoid damp issues and obviously dont put it in front of a window as you will block the light .

I just found the link below, which doesn't appear to suggest there is a minimum distance that a shed must be located from the house.

Sometimes the rules on these things are a bit vague. you should check with local council. Most people dont bother and just do what they like but maybe there are insurance implications. On a similar note I had a wooden box/shed at my caravan by the beach. We had to replace all the wooden ones with aluminium/steel. Council directive for fire safety. Yet a lot of caravan owners had decking made out of wood and they are allowed to keep it. Doesnt make sense to me.
Another problem could be an oil tank, if you have one. My mother in law, who lives in an executive bungalow, had to get a new oil tank due to vandalism. The new tank was fitted on the base that held the old one. As it was close, about 2 feet, from her shed they had to put up a sort of fire screen between the tank and the shed. Told her it was regulations
I started out with nothing......And still have most of it left:p

as long as you dont annoy the neighbours I dont think the shed police will be interested
