Hi can anyone shed some light on this email I was sent please
Dear Xx Xxxxxx
Account number ending XXXX
We wanted to let you know that we will be clearing the outstanding balance on your credit card account number ending XXXX from xxth xxxxxxxx 2014 and closing your account.
Why are you clearing my outstanding balance and closing my account?
Your account has not been used for a long period of time and an outstanding balance has accrued. We are therefore writing to give you 60 days' notice of closure of your account in accordance with the credit card terms and conditions. As during this period of inactivity we have not been sending you notices or reminders of the outstanding balance, we are waiving payment of this and you have nothing more to pay.
Do I need to take any action?
No, the account will be closed automatically after the end of the notice period and your account balance will be £0.00 with no more payments required.
If you have any questions at all, just call us on xxxxxxxxxxxxx* or get in touch with us via 'contact us' in the secure website. We're open 8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday and 9am to 5pm on Saturday.
Yours sincerely
xxxx xxxxxxx

Thanks in advance

It sounds like they are closing your dormant account within 60 days of notice, but that any outstanding charges will be waived. Hope it helps shed some light for you.

I would say it was a spam email, and don't touch it with a bargepole.
No one will "pay off" your credit card bill because of inactivity, its a con to make you contact them, and divulge personal information, that can then be used for fraudulent purposes.

I had similar - assuming it's from Cahoot then I believe it's genuine, will be waiting till the 60 days are up to confirm it though. You can see the same message if you login to your online Cahoot account.0

I had the same letter. 2 weeks later I had a letter from them saying they were reopening my PPI claim and paying me £7,000. So they wrote off £3k debt and paid me £7k. I was doubtful but I had the cheque in the post on Saturday. I would say that qualifies as a win!0
