Yes I do prod my ponds(!) but not had a leak yet!
Did try some with gelatine but think the hair gel worked better.
Made a nice tree I'd seen on Pinterest - just a thorn branch from the garden and white snowflakes that I got off ebay - 60 for £2 and 99p for the green hooks. Also added a £1.50 set of battery lights.
