Underwriter wants to question some spending on our bank statements - good or bad?

We have been waiting since Monday for a decision after almost 6 weeks.
Today the underwriter has referred us back to the mortage advisor as there are questions about our statements.
I have been convinced that they would reject us, so I am thinking at least its not a definate no!!
Is it a good thing to be asking us questions? Does it mean they are considering offering us the money? x

You know what's on the bank statements. So should have a good idea as to the likely questions.0

My theory is that its a good thing they are asking questions. If they were going to decline your application they would do it.
So there is something on there they want to understand.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Santander, I've not been asked the questions yet as they never rang today to ask them, it will be monday now.
We transfer a lump sum over to a different account every month as all DD come out of that account so we don't spend money thats needed for a bill, so could be about that, or there are a few transfers from our savings account on 2 of the months one for 300quid that we used to go on holiday and I bought some xmas presents and another month we transfered 200quid from savings to go to an expensive wedding.
Nothing else looks strange to me tbh x0 -
Well presumably when they asked you for bank account statements, you provided them with your main bank account statement, and a bank statement for the 'DD current account'? Therefore they should already be aware that you have a couple of current accounts...
Would be interesting to hear what they asked you - please keep the thread updated.0 -
No, I told the mortgage advisor on the phone what we do and she said to just send current account details so we did.
Maybe they just want copies of that account then.
Wish it wasn't the weekend!! It'll be 6 weeks on tues since we started applying!!0 -
Update: So annoyed as the girl on the phone could have given me the information needed instead she passed me off saying I needed to speak with my mortgage advisor (which I didnt need to ) Could have got the info needed together over the weekend to speed the process up!!
They have requested my husbands current work contract and my letter for child tax credit - thats it!! No idea where she got that they want to question our bank account...
Hopefully we're looking at another few days tops for our decision!0
