Live in London and in debt?

The London Assembly Economy Committee is investigating personal problem debt in London. It wants to understand how and why people are in debt so it can recommend solutions to the Mayor on how he can better support those in debt.

- What triggered going into debt?
- Have you looked for help? If so, at what point did you do this?
- What support have you had from others, such as advice organisations or community groups?
- What more could the Mayor do to provide support to indebted Londoners?
If you’ve ever had a payday loan:
- Were you made aware of all the charges?
- Did you struggle to make repayments? Were you offered any support by the lender, including being given any alternative way of repaying?
- Did you ever fall behind with payments? Did the lender tell you when you did miss a payment and how did they do this?

Thanks for asking. Yes, I do live in London, and like many here, have a mortgage on my home. It was triggered by my buying a rather nice place on the river, and no, I've definitely not looked for help!0
