Barclaycard Loophole

Hi All
I have an outstanding balance of £7700 on a Barclaycard platinum and currently am just making the minimum payments. I saw on the MSE page about a loophpe where I can change the rate to 6.9% in order to pay off the card. I don't want another through them but not sure if this is still possible without another credit check etc?
