So Black Mountain is called Black because Divis is "Dubh ais" which means Irish for "Black Back" for someone who has English as a first language could you try again?0 -

Quert is simply saying Black Mountain is often confused with Divis mountain so Divis is Irish for Black so they called Black mountain Black as a result.0

Sorry, nil thios agam. Probably for the same reason that Divis got the name black back. Basalt as opposed to limestone round the corner at white mountain?

So Black mountain is named that because there is Basalt around it which colours it black?
