what to do about past due credit solutions

Hi,
I received a letter in may from this company and they were claiming I owed around £200 for a phone bill. I sent them a letter saying I wanted proof of this debt and at the end of june this year saying my 'request for further information' on the account had been passed on to the client and I would be sent an invoice within 28 days.
This was over 3 months ago now and I haven't received anything at all from them since then and I'm wondering what to do next?
Do I contact them and ask why I haven't received anything or should I just not do anything?
I'm really worried about this affecting my credit score in the long run! I have checked my credit file and there's nothing on there from them, I just don't want them to send me more letters in a few months or years saying I still owe the money, I would rather get it sorted out now.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

It looks like they don't have any proof to me. Personally I would ignore it (but I have less to lose than you on the credit rating front).
If you are that worried then you could post them a letter telling them that you now consider that they don't have proof and asking them to confirm that the matter is now closed.
Have a look through this thread for good information and some ideas for your letter and other options for maybe complaining.BSC No 248
