Save money on home haircuts?

I'm thinking about cutting mine and my son's hair to save some money? Anyone got any tips? :money:

Cutting your sons hair, maybe, but trying to cut your own hair? It'll end in tears.

I think it depends on what you are trying to achieve. A lot of men I know have invested in a hair clipper and just run it over their heads for a fairly short style. Others have very long hair and just take a bit off the ends. However if you want something 'styled' and layered then you probably need to go to a barber or hairdresser.

I've cut my own fringe with one of these Crea Clips

But I haven't yet got brave enough to put layers in it!

Boys hair would show the mistakes more, if the hair's short, so I recommend to proceed with caution.
  • Depends on the length really, if you are a woman and have long hair then a ponytail haircut is really easy, not tried the clip version as I've loads of layers at the mo. Youtube has lots of videos you could look at but at the end of the day it's hair and it will grow back if it all goes wrong :)
:hello: Hiya, I'm single mom, avid moneysaver and freecycler, sometimes  but definatly :D

Just cut mine yesterday and managed to get it much more balanced than the last hairdresser did. I started with the ponytail method and have added in extras to take off a bit of length and using a razor for a more choppy finish.

Used to use the clippers on DS1 & DS2.

    I used the £10 I 'saved' to buy a new top:money:
