in Cutting tax
Hello
I wonder if someone would be kind enough to advise me regarding the 2013-14 tax year?
Unfortunately my job was made redundant on 6th December 2013.
I had a 3 month notice period, that thankfully, I wasn't required to work. My last pay day was the end of December when I received: 1 weeks pay, statutory redundancy pay, and 3 months pay in lieu of notice (that was doubled by a discretionary payment).
I signed on immediately and received JSA until April. As I wasn't paid between January and March would that mean that I have overpaid income tax? I presume that your personal allowance is spread evenly throughout the year.
I'm sure I gave the Jobcentre my P45, but I didn't receive a payment when I ceased claiming JSA. I believe I read that any refund of tax was the responsibillty of the Jobcentre.

You'd need to provide the figures in order to get an answer: year to date from the P45 and the total you received in JSA payments.0

If your total income including taxable JSA was under £9440 in that tax year, any tax deducted from your period of employment should be repayable. There are 10 types of people in the world - those who understand binary and those who do not. :doh:0
