Any advice or experiences recently

Child benefit has been confirmed as finished but csa says that to stop the payments may take 3mths.How is that allowed?Thought the payments would stop after going to Uni and things confirmed both sides...what can I do as ridiculous that il pay and child will be at Uni .Then il have the problem trying to get the money back through the csa .

Any ideas on how I can sort this out ?

Many thanks

Your liability will have stopped accruing now, and you should get a letter confirming that you've now been assessed at nil, however you may actually still owe some money due to the timing of schedules and your method of payment.

Child maintenance is always paid in arrears, so a payment that is made in October is usually for the month before, so you could be paying for the period when child benefit was still in payment.

How do you currently pay, is it via deduction from earnings? If so, that could also be a factor, as your employer doesn't have to send on the deductions until the 19th of the month after taking that money from you, so if a payment was taken from your wage on 1st October (to cover September), your employer doesn't have to send that in until 19th November.

thank you for the replies ...i do appreciate it

no there are no arrears and yes pay through attachment to earnings through work .
So cut off for my work is 19th of this month october...so i may still have a payment taken out of my wage at the end of this month ?

Well i hope thats the end as another 3mths for it to stop ...says the csa by phone sounds ridiculous .

Do you think i should keep ringing csa or write to them ?Worried to just sit on my hands an wait and see

Worth giving them a call to ask if they can give you a current balance.
