Hi
So quick version for you - in 2007 i took out car finance with Welcome Finance. It equaled just shy of 13k. I was chased by a company in 2011 and agreed to pay half of the debt at a rate of £50 per month. I made one payment and then no more. Nothing had been confirmed in writing at any point and I heard no more from them.
I've not heard anything from anyone until this June when i got a letter from MKDP asking the usual 'get in touch'. I ignored it and received 3 more letters within a few weeks which prompted me to send the 'prove it' letter.
They replied to me 3 weeks ago with the signed contract i had signed along with my then partner. It was dated 07.12.07. Along with this they had enclosed a history of payments up until when the debt was stated as 'written off' on their system printout. This enabled me to see that my last payment to them was on 29.09.08. and showed no record of the payment i made in 2011 so i thought i would try my luck with the statute barred letter, so, on 30.09.14, i sent them a recorded delivery letter that was the 'statute barred'. As of yet, i am still waiting for a response.
Today, i received a letter from Redhill telling me to contact them concerning this same debt within 7 days before i leave them with no further option than to assess alternative action to recover the balance.
Surely this isn't legal?? What do i/can i do? Any help much appreciated!
Thanks
Claire

Could be the debt has been sold on again, some DCA`s drop them like a hot potato if you start making waves, you could chance your arm again with the SB approach again, see what happens.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. I have the same problem with a debt from 1995(which I'm sure has been paid). In Jan 2014 I had a letter from a Debt company saying I still owed this money. I wrote back with the standard "statute barred" letter. I heard no more until last month when Mackenzie Hall started ringing & writing about the same debt. I have sent them a "statute barred" letter but still being rung 3,4,5 times a day on our land line & also my mobile(which I only use for emergencies and never given out the number???). Not sure where to go next with this?0

Threaten them with a complaint to the regulator (FCA) demand they acknowledge your letter or else !!!!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
