Warranty Q on gifts

Options
I want to buy my dad a tablet from HP as a present for christmas, and I want to buy it now rather than at christmas as I like to be organised. But if I get it now, will he miss out on nearly 2.5 months of warranty or because it is a gift will there be any other consumer rights? It also means the 90 free tech support HP give will also have technically run out by then.

Do I have any other choice but to wait nearer the time?

Check if the warranty runs from time of purchase or time of delivery if later. If it is from time of delivery, see if you can get one delivered much closer to Christmas, even if you buy now.

Buying in early December would still be pretty organised, though!
