    Seventh Anniversary Combo Breaker
Try Gareth Drummond Plumbing and Heating, he's from the Castlereagh/Orangefield area... I've used him twice for installing a combi boiler and replacing taps with no problems at all and very reasonably priced.

    Hi All,

Does anyone know of any other firms? AGS have been a disappointment. They did arrive out fairly prompty when contacted, however some of the work they did is now giving problems. I've been in touch five times now over two weeks and they are yet to advise on a return date. I just got a call from the firm looking payment for their first visit but I said this would not be happening until the work they were paid to do was completed to the correct standard.

Surely if you get a new company involved, the original will expect to be paid regardless of whether they completed the job or not?

Five weeks ago the plumber came out to do a general check, repair the kitchen tap and two plugs that had loose fittings. The tap worked for one day and then went back to its previous state, the plugs lasted slightly longer.

I called the plumbing company the following day to advise of this and request my bill. They advised they were unable to bill as Maria was out of the office on holiday and that the tap issue would require a new tap but first I must forward on a photo of the existing tap which I did the next day.

One week later I called to ask when a plumber would be calling out and what my bill was. The plumber said "fair play for chasing up on the bill but Maria is still out of the office" and with regards to the photo I sent through the plumber "minds seeing it and would look for a replacement".

I phoned up again the following week, plumber is still unable to advise when he can come out.

Last week the bill arrived and on Monday Maria called looking for payment. I advised that I would pay the entire bill once the job in question had actually been completed, Maria would send this message back to the plumber.

Today I send a final email asking for an appointment date otherwise I'm going elsewhere, Maria called looking for payment and advised a plumber would not be going back out until payment was received.

I am not paying for this inept service.

Fair enough but they will chase you for payment and you will find yourself in trouble.

Plumber managed to arrive on my doorstep at 20:30 following my email at 18:00 demanding payment. I refused as the job was not completed.

Don't blame you to be honest. This is where knowing a good Handyman comes in "handy" :rotfl:.. but they are few and far between now-a-day....

Ever think of doing a DIY or house maintenance type course at a local tech? Do they even do them any more???
  • Take photo's of all botched work, email again saying you will be getting someone else to fix plumbing if remedial work isn't carried out within two weeks.Don't phone as you will need copies of all conversations between you and firm.I had problem with joiner and kitchen unit's and ended up in small claims court.I found it very simple as I had kept all documentation joinery firm wanted full bill paid judgement said I only had to pay 30%.

He won't do any further work until the company has been paid for visit one during which time they spent almost one hour "repairing" the tap and two plugs all of which needs further work or even replacing. At the time the plumber spent the remaining 30 minutes doing a general check and giving me the all clear, however he missed some obvious things that I pointed out to him following his visit. The bill for this visit - £110.

You'll need to pay Cotta, you're being given poor advice on here.
