Wed 8th October - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending .
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Morning All
Hi Ziggy
Hope today is better for you.
Today I had a nice surprise, woke to find my cheque for the rebate from First Utility had appeared in my account. Whoop! £242 plus our DD will be switched to variable from this month to avoid ending up in so much credit again. I plan to use any saving to go straight into our emergency fund which desperately needs repairing.
Also received £18 from the eBay sale yesterday.
It's rainy & miserable here today which means a soggy walk to get bread, butter & loo roll but the fresh air will be nice.
Our broadband went down yesterday between 2 and 4pm and it seems highly suspicious that there was a BT engineer in our street when I got home...now have had to spend loads of time on the phone to them. They said it's a fault on the line, but oddly our phone still works. I will be asking for a refund for the day we haven't had service for.
lunch will be leftover sweet potato soup, & debating whether to do chilli, garlic bread & salad for dinner or shepherds pie.
I got our credit card bill yesterday and realised that we will go under 3k on one card after our next payment which feels good.
Have a good day all." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Afternoon Frugalistas,
Busy day so far, of which the money saving bits are:
*Switching off iron for final garment & saving surplus hot kettle water in flask towards next drink. It boils much quicker.
*Foraged into depths of fridge & dealt with veggies needing attention. Blanched & froze cauli & cabbage so can use at weekend. Small aubergine, courgettes & bits & bobs prepped to use with rubber chicken in tonight's curry.
*Chicken stock from Monday's rubber chicken endeavours, plus last of the meat, leftover gravy used to make chicken & vegetable soup. Its lovely & must have cost just pence.
*Filled Mr f's new portable soup mug thingy with said soup. That'll do his packed lunch tomorrow with a cob. Froze some too.
*Made spiced vinegar. It's just infusing. Will make the pickled onions this afternoon. No big spends there..... a whole sack of pickling onions from the market - £3.50 - Aldi malt vinegar - 29p a bottle, & all other ingredients already in stock in my spice cupboard. Aim to tart a couple of jars up to go in Christmas gift hampers as have done loads of preserving this year.
*Update budgets.
*Knit some more sock.....error incurred during University Challenge excitement now corrected......good job no swear box in this house, though.
*Progress more of my 'Project Preparing for Winter' jobs if time.
*Try to do a few surveys as am near to next voucher on Toluna.
Bye for now,

Hi, late post from me today as I have been babysitting and am a bit grandma'd out :rotfl:
Not much done apart from playing with baby GD and walking her around town morning AND afternoon to ensure she got naps. It is the only way I can get her to have a short nap atm, and she gets grumpy if she doesn't  Still, free exercise pushing her buggy for a mile or three I suppose
Also:
Small amount of washing dried outside on line. It has been a strange day, quite windy, nice in parts interspersed with bucketing down with rain. Although one load dried ok, I had an issue with the second load, which was the linen from the spare bed. First the line broke  but luckily the washing landed on clean leaves instead of soil so it was ok. However, the sheet then blew against the raspberry bushes and got stained with raspberry juice  Never had that happen before! It is back in the washing machine again now
My poor old machine doesn't know what has hit it today - as well as the two loads and then the sheet AGAIN, baby had a huge accident which required a complete change of clothes and the original set washed IMMEDIATELY :rotfl:
Small shop in Mr S. I bought some bread, a chicken and a new washing up bowl (the glamour :rotfl:) Baby thankfully slept during this and didn't wreck the store
Cooked chicken for supper, loads left for further meals
Used some of our runner bean mountain with the roast chicken dinner
Did a survey for nectar points
Sold a book on Amazon - first for ages
Received a book from Amazon, a lovely thankyou present from DD1 for dog sitting at the weekend
Cleared up dropped food, baby wipes, toys and scraped general goo off the floors and furniture. Luckily I have wooden floors which are easy to clean and (non-posh) antique furniture that has seen it all before
Well, what with one thing and another it has been a busy day. Early night called for I think!0 -
