At my wits end now. Been looking for 6 months now for 1930s 4 panel doors (1 over 3) and still no luck.
Most frustrating thing is, I have been to see a couple but they are the wrong measurements and while chatting to the sellers they only go on to tell me that other houses in their street have been renovated and 5-6 of the doors I want had been thrown in a skip and taken to a dump.
What are your opinions on going door to door in areas I know where the houses have the doors I am looking for and leaving a leaflet in detailing that if they are renovating that I would pay good money for their doors.
Thanks,
C
PS If you know if anyone who has these doors and looking to upgrade it renovation pleeeease PM me.

Have you looked at some of the salvage places on ebay ? e.g.

Most say do not post to NI or collection only but you could always organise a courier. Or hire a van to go and get them !0 -
I've bought some (I believe they are also called 'westminster doors') off ebay or via salvage places on t'internet in the past.
All of them needed some fettling to fit, I am guessing that when houses were built in the early 30's there wasn't a 'standard' size as although most of mine are similar they aren't all exactly the same width!
(house built in 1934).
They are part of the beauty of the house (mine are mostly wood stained or stripped and oiled rather than painted), so worth persevering to get.Unless specifically stated all posts by me are my own considered opinion.
If you don't like my opinion feel free to respond with your own.0 -
@Willyk I have thought about Ebay but I definitely wouldn't get them delivered without seeing them first. I may have to make the trip!
@timbo58 You say it's worth, 'worth persevering' and I will but it is just taking so much effort. I have probably spent the cost of the doors in petrol and have nothing to show for it. Thanks for letting me know that they are also called, 'westminster doors'!
I may go ahead and do up some flyers and chance my arm.0 -
I spent ages looking for reclaimed pine doors so I know how difficult they are to find. The house I have had very large doors which in the end I gave up on. I am guessing you have tried Barewood down the city centre. There was a place in England had a stock of 4000-5000 reclaimed doors but I can't seem to find them at the moment. Did come across this and they deliver but at what cost I do not know.

Just found it I think. They have 114 of the doors you want !!!
