Coconut Water - Cheapest?

Okay, so I'm sucked into buying the latest craze of mine, and that is coconut water that I originally found on offer (still is, I think, last time I looked) in Tesco at 2 for £1 for 300ml can. I know it isn't the pure coconut water that the media has talked about in the recent year but this particular version is sososo nice ie. sweeter than the pure. Can someone advise me if I can get this any cheaper than this particular offer? I think it works out at 17 pence per 100ml (I haven't done my maths on this, but going by memory from reading the price ticket)

I've tried the pure version, but really don't like it that much - it's palatable but much like the cheaper one with all the sugar and other stuff in it...:o:o

I'm buying the Tesco 2 for £1 ones as well and it's the cheapest I've ever found (I've been drinking the stuff for years & I love it)

The cans are usually around 70p in the Chinese supermarkets where I used to buy it. You can also get different kinds e.g. roasted & with or without pulp. I think some have the jelly, which I would avoid. Green coconuts have a layer of slimy jelly in them that's really gross!

Approved Foods had a few different kinds, but they seem to be out of stock at the moment:

  • Dogstar, I too have a similar hankering for Coconut water in all forms at the moment! Do you have an ethnic grocery store near you anywhere? I've found these to be the best type of places, I'm really lucky that I have one just around the corner from work so I can pop out and indulge frequently...they also do many different types...I've worked my way through most of them and not found once I didn't like yet! :) Cheap as chips there too, does a 500ml can for approx 50p xx

    I've tried this...

Niru coconut water with pieces of coconut, in a glass bottle (have a look on mysupermarket, can't get link to work...)

...and it's lovely. 50p for 290ml in the world foods section of my local Asda.

Same here as well as checking small East/South Asian shops.

  • Thanks for all your reccys. The Amy & Brian sounds nice, but I think that's a bit too posh for my liking. I'll try the Chinese supermarket around here, and see what flavours they do, although am a bit wary of trying anything too weird! (atm, have a cold and can't taste anything!)

My friend was talking about this the other day a woman at our gym mentioned the Tesco offer but when we were there we could not find it!

Gym woman also said good bulk deals on Amazon.

Personally I can't stand the plain water (Coconut) but the flavoured ones are more palatable!
  • You'd find it in the World Food aisle in the Asian section. I've also seen it in a Tesco Express but it's for a different brand at 95p per can.
