Autumn check in...
Vital stats:
Mortgage owed: £170,713
Cash held: £13,734
My pension funds (incl. S&S ISA): £21,500
DH pension funds: £33,300
Net worth (cash+pensions+house value - mortgage/other debts): £211,800
I turn 30 in October next year, so I'll have to think of some financial goals. Somehow feels like a significant milestone. I'd like us to get 1X our annual income in pension funds by then.
I'd also like to get the mortgage down to £160,000. We've eased off on how aggressive we are with this as pension savings have better returns and are probably more important. It's also quite likely we will end up renting out our house next year (DH's work may be moving to another country) in which case 50% LTV is more than adequate and we'll want to keep some funds liquid for moving and saving towards our next residential home...would like to keep this little cottage in England in case we ever want to come back. My mum had a friend who left for France, missed a property boom after having sold up, and then ended up coming back much lower on the ladder.0
