Hi. I want to buy a budget TV.
I am looking at these two:
Panasonic TX-32AS500 vs Samsung UE32EH5000
They are both non smart ( but I could get a roku or now box)
They both have good reviews mainly. (For budget TVs)
The Panasonic is720p and the Samsung is 1080p.
So the Samsung has a better HD picture. However the Panasonic shows SD content better.
I am not sure which would be best for me.
I don't watch much TV. When I do I watch drama series and some art documentaries. Am not sure whether these will be usually in HD or not. ( I have an old CRT now). I also watch some films on TV but I only have freeview and am not planning on getting a paid for service. Some of the films are very old ones - so not HD. Not got any blu-ray so that's not an issue.
My eyesight's not 20-20 even with my glasses so maybe full HD's not needed anyway.
I guess I am leaning towards the Panasonic for any SD content and that 720p will be good enough for HD. But wondering if down the line I wish I had 1080p.
Any thoughts? I don't live near any TV shops so can't compare in store.

John Lewis is selling the Samsung for £229 with a five year guarantee. It's got some great reviews: http://www.johnlewis.com/samsung-ue32h5000-led-hd-1080p-tv-32-with-freeview-hd/p1451062#tabinfo-ratings
At that price and with such a long guarantee, don't think you can go far wrong.0 -
Have you a Curry's near you?
They usually have a large selection of flat TVs. Where I live they have about 50 plus on display!!
There is two advantages from buying from John Lewis.
They throw in a 5 year free guarantee with the TV. :T
Also they will deliver it to your doorstep for free.:T
Also on your comment about HD.
You will find a lot of the BBC dramas and documentries are already broadcast in HD.
HD picture is defiantly better. Watch a HD copy of the old Star Trek of the 60's on an HD TV and you can see how caked on the makeup was then.:rotfl:The more I live, the more I learn.
The more I learn, the more I grow.
The more I grow, the more I see.
The more I see, the more I know.
The more I know, the more I see,
How little I know.!!0 -
Thanks both of you.
The John lewis Samsung deal does look tempting.
Unfortunately the Curry's near me closed down.0 -
I've got the Samsung and am very happy with it. Paid £199 from Richer Sounds with 5 year guarantee. If you go to Curry's they price match so don't pay more than £200.0
