    Thanks for all the advice. In response to GothicStirling, I'll be honest with you, the 'Job Centre' was always crap. It was normally my last port of call, when looking for employment, though I do recall getting one decent job through them. I'd imagine it's probably worse now though, to be honest.

    At the moment, after many years of solid work, I'm planning to take a short break. I've prepared for this moment for a long time, and have almost no debt, very low outgoings etc. And to my advantage I'm quite a miserly individual - I enjoy walking miles to try and find 'yellow label food' and know all the best places, and times :-)

    As for employment. I will probably try and create something myself - something I've always wanted to do.
