Is the Kenwood 901E a good model?

I'm confused by all the different Kenwood models and what fits what! Is a kenwood 901E ok and do attachments fit it? :o

Thanks folks.

I've bought it! It was on e-bay, all 3 beaters, liquidiser, looks in good nick. I paid £57 including delivery!
  • Hi - sorry to but in on this thread but I have a question about Chefs too - my friend has just rung me and said that she has just seen a yellow Kenwood Chef with loads of attachments, boxed, in her local second hand shop. There was no price on it and the assistant said she didn't know how much they would be asking for it as it had only just come in. She didn't get the model number but I wondered if anyone knew if yellow Chefs were a particular model only and roughly how much she should be looking to pay for it?

  • A901E - a fine model. All the new attachments will fit it as well.

Yellow Chef - never seen one, so wouldn't know which model. Is it a Patissier I wonder?

I have seen orange A701s and A901s - possibly it was faded? The value depends on the condition and how many / which attachments are included. Try to get your friend to have a look on ebay to see which model it was that she saw. If it was under £30 it would probably be a good deal no matter what model it was.

Thanks Thistle-down, I bought it because I was terrified someone else would and it seemed a good price all in.

Nice to know you give it a good reference. :j

I have had an A901E for about 20 years. I am sure you will get lots of good use from it. I thought that I had lost my instruction book, but couldn't really believe that I had been stupid enough to throw it away, and it turned up a couple of weeks ago, so I am a happy bunny again now. If you didn't get a book with yours feel free to PM with any questions such as safe quantities to use.

On the subject of attachments for it, if my reading of the Kenwood website is correct the food processor won't fit, so you may like to double check if you ever think about getting one of those.

It arrived this morning, mucky, but it's cleaned up a treat. It works though there is a bit of a burny pong. Someone on another thread did mention this and said it would be because it hadn't been used for a time. Like leccy fires!

The liquidiser fits and it works as well.

However, I've run out of flour doh!

Thank you to everyone who took time to offer advice and help. :T

I know professional chefs who swear by their Kenwood Chefs!

My food processor was quite expensive and is rubbish compared

The A901 is the classic (they haven't changed that much and new ones can go for £200 to £300) but if you are lucky, you can pick them up for under £40 on Ebay.

I had a baking day on Sunday. I couldn't wait for the order this Thursday, so I bought flour and yeast.

I made the recipe off the back of the yeast pack and made bread with value plain flour. It worked BRILLIANTLY, the bread is triff. I bought some Dove organic flour which is going cheap, that too is great. The dough hook makes it all sooooo easy. :j
