Some advice Lowells / Scotcall

Good Morning all,
I have just received a letter from Scotcall and from Lowell in the same envelope, alleging that I owe money to O2.
The Lowell letter states their reference number, but under this, where it has the "original account number" which states O2 (UK) LTD under this it states "original company name" but this has been left blank.
This letter then states they have passed it on to Scotcall, then the Scotcall letter states "impending debt collection visit".
Now, first of all, I have not now, or at any time, had an account with O2. Not for landline, broadband, or mobiles in my household. So im already scratching my head about this.
Secondly, as I work very long hours, most of the time the only people at home are my partner and 2 extremely young children. So the thought of anyone showing up at the door is not ideal, if I knew I would personally be home at the time, I would have no issue as I would happily tell them where to go!
Should I send a "prove it" letter to either lowells or scotcall? Should I simply ignore it?
Additionally, if I send a prove it letter, aren't I allowed to provide a time scale for response? Although neither of these letters received state I have X amount of days to respond, I was always under the impression that such matters had to be replied to in a timely fashion. The idea of an "open ended, can reply when we feel like it" type response is hardly ideal but if that is the norm, then so be it.
Appreciate any help on this.

Good Morning :hello:
Yes, send the provit letter, sounds like a fishing expedition to me.
Extremely unlikely Mr Lowell or Mr Scotcall will ever knock on your door, and should they do so, remember this, they are only debt collectors, with no more power than next doors cat !!!
You can ignore them completely, tell them to get lost, or, more politely, tell them you will only deal with this matter in writing.
I f you have never held this account they are chasing then sending the provit letter should get rid of them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
