Express, Daily Star and OK! competitions - help/advice please?

Hi y'all

Since Gbear's departure to pastures new and exciting, I've been posting up the comps appearing on the Express, Daily Star and OK! sites.

Previously, the terms always stated "To participate in this competition, entrants need to register with the [Express/Star/OK] website at...[relevant site] "

However, the terms now appear to be stating "To participate in this competition, entrants need to enter their details in the form on the competition page."

Now, the prizes are 'shared' across the three sites, per terms: "One winner will be chosen for the Express, Daily Star and OK! sites."

My question is, although each site has a different web address for their entry forms, with little info in the terms to suggest otherwise, do people think it is fine to enter via each/every portal, or just to choose one? :o

Any advice, particularly from the more experienced members, would be much appreciated. Cheers :)

    3. The Prize is non-transferable and the winner is not entitled to a cash alternative. However, we reserve the right to offer a cash alternative if for any reason the Prize is no longer available or suitable.
    4. To participate in this competition, entrants need to register with the Daily Express website at http://www.express.co.uk/
    5. Entrants must be resident in the UK and aged 18 years or above.
    6. It is the entrant’s responsibility to ensure that the contact details and email address they provide upon registration and entry are valid and correct.
    7. The winner will be selected at random and shall be notified by phone or email.
    8. 9. The Prize will be delivered to the winner's home address unless he/she states otherwise upon written notification, as soon as possible from receipt of confirmation by us of their details.
    10. The winner may be included in publicity material, and by entering into this competition, entrants agree to their name and image being used by us for publicity purposes in the event that they win.

Note that the terms make no reference to the other sites nor to the parent company. We "know" they are related but there is nothing that actually says so. They don't even mention anything like "one entry per person".

It's always tricky deciding in cases like this - many other comps suffer from a similar dilemma. Some specifically say one entry across all sites, others specifically allow one entry on each of their sites. Many say nothing at all. Of these, some have been found to be OK to enter across multiple sites as people have reported wins after doing so, and one or two have responded to queries to clarify the position. We have even had at least one case that allows you to enter on multiple sites but only counts one of your entries.

Until we know otherwise, I would advise posting the comps from all the sites and letting people make their own decision about entering on more than one site.

Oh, is that why when I tried to enter the three today, the second and third came up with " You have already entered " ?

I think I found that on one of the comps (sorry can't remember which one) but on others I could definitely enter across all three sites. As far as I know you can't enter more than once on the same site (I tested that to be sure) so there shouldn't be a risk of duping yourself that way :D

I suppose if the entries go through, and you are happy to enter via all three sites, then go for it! If entries are limited by the mechanism then so be it; we'll all be in the same boat ;)
