The only thing I would add to the above is - don't get one that's too large if there are only the two of you. It can be intimidating when your ingredients barely cover the bottom.
I would actually (respectfully) disagree with you there beedeedee. There's just two of us and we have a 6.5litre one. One of the things I like best about it is that I can buy the large 'big value' type packs of meat/veg etc and pop it all in the slow cooker, knowing that I can freeze what I make and have it again when I can't be bothered to cook! And I think it definitely must be cheaper than cooking on a low oven.0
