We have decided to repay our mortgage as fast as possible - and in 2 and a half years, have reduced it from 80K to 48K through saving and making a lump sum overpayment.
we have just changed provider after our 2 year fixed rate has finished and have arranged a direct debit for a £500 monthly overpayment.
love the idea of the mortgage pig too and will be starting using this on Monday morning.
thinking of moving away in a year, so would love to pay off as much as possible to enable more equity.
be grateful for any tips from other MFW members.
oh also, does every mortgage charge a MEAF? I would live to reclaim but cant find a record of this on our contract.
thanks and good luck all!

Hi DK67
Welcome to MFW. Sounds like you have got quite a lot in place already which is great. I'm sure people will have a lot of advice to be able to offer you - I've picked up a lot of tips just from reading the threads on here. One thing I like is if you save money on something (like tonight I was very good and cooked when I was planning on a takeaway :A) put the money you would have spent in the pig). I'm sure it will soon build up into something bankable.
It might be better to have a look/start a thread on the mortgages board to ask about your MEAF if you dont get any responses on here. The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0
