Sat & Sun 4th & 5th October - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending .
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Evening all,
Today I have kept the frugal faith thus:
*Shared hot bathtub.
*Had a day out. Treated selves to coffee & scones but from our personal spends so no adverse effect on bank account.
*Took picnic to avoid buying lunch out. Picnic too big so brought some food home with us!
*Did not get tempted by nice shops or garden centre. Bought only the modest bag of tulip bulbs I had intended.
*Updated budgets.
*Did some surveys. Very near to voucher cash-in level on Toluna again, so trying to have a bit of a survey splurge at the moment.
*mr f's cooking night. He's been instructed to incorporate a home grown aubergine & bundle of courgettes into whatever he's making as am conscious that the veg drawer in the fridge in building up a bit.
*Temperature is 10 degrees cooler today than yesterday, but is the heating going on yet? Pah! It so isn't! Fished the snuggly rug out of the linen cupboard in case I start getting tempted once my feet get cold.
*Set timer for a cheap overnight wash on Economy 7 - weather looks dry tomorrow so should be able to line-dry for free, whereas Mon & Tues look like complete p*ss-downs here.
Think that's it for today. Tomorrow, I am planning to write a list of pre-winter jobs I'd like to do over the next couple of weeks which will keep me focussed.
Have a good Saturday night everyone.... & remember everything distilled from grapes is one of your 5-a day.
Cheers,

Today I have helped out at a school open day for new parents. I packed a picnic lunch for all of us as we were going straight to my son's dance class afterwards.
Tonight I made quesidillas to use up some tortillas we had left from the fajitas this week. They were delicious.

Hello all
Quiet weekend in the SS household.
Have been batch cooking - curry sauce, soup, pasta sauce.
Finally bit the bullet and tried to submit meter readings. Turns out the previous gas meter reading was incorrect (not surprising as meter is in a small box in the corner of a room and there is a pipe right in front of the numbers). Now I need to send a photo of the meter - took some bendy moves to get in there and take a photo but me thinks we have succeeded!
Best DFW thing I did this weekend was to read library book (couldn't put it down) "Hinterlands". If you like reading and haven't come across this I recommend it. One of those books that makes you very appreciative of all that you have got.
Best wishes all x0
