Cheap Tinned Tomatoes
Tesco have East End Chopped & Plum tinned tomatoes @ 4 for £1, and KTC chopped toms at the same price. They're decent tinned tomatoes, cost (at the regular price) about the same as Tesco Value toms, and taste and look better - the Value ones look a bit anaemic and are not quite as delicious - especially with a breakfast.
Sainsbury's also do KTC tomatoes and the plums are excellent @ around the same price as their Basics brand.
[You will need to look in the Asian Groceries section online at Tesco under Foods of the World. Sainsbury's stores keep them in a separate aisle to the other tinned tomatoes - ethnic/ world foods or similar]

I really like Aldi's premium ones at 39p a can. The sauce is quite thick and luxurious!Money money money.

Has anybody got any other suggestions for good tin tomatoes please. I tried the ones the op posted. Which where good at first but the tomatoes have been a bit yellow and with not much taste. I use them a lot for stews, grill up etc. Thanks. Time to go to Asda to try the Napolina ones again maybe.0

I'm perfectly happy with cheap and cheerful so either buy Farmfoods or Aldi that work out (roughly) at 3 for £1.
Are the Napolina ones really that much better?
I only use tinned tomatoes for sauces/casseroles never eat them on them own.0 -
I swear by these now and stock up when they are half price. I know they are no where near as cheap as the value ones, but I find these have more tomato in and less watery juice, so for me when cooking, I use 1 tin of these as opposed to 2 tins of the cheaper ones.
I do have to say though, I do only buy them when they are half price! At the moment they are £2.14 for a pack of 4.

Maman the Napolina tin toms did not seem any better which is why I changed to the cheap ones. I am just getting fed up with the cheap ones not having a nice colour and a bit watery. I change brands for tin tomatoes frequently as although they start of nice they do not seem to keep the same quality.
BB34 Thanks for the cirio suggestion.
Thanks everybody.0 -
I find that the East End ones have a sharp, metallic taste. I like the Aldi 'bog standard' ones-about 33p a tin.0

What is the difference? Surely a tin of tomatoes is just that....
Talking of the ethnic food aisle... Cooking oil, Rice and spices are so much cheaper in that section..NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0
