Here are some buttons to display the forum (in forum view) with 40 threads per page instead of the normal 20. You can change the &pp= number to whatever suits you best, but I would advise not selecting a number too much higher. Note that the first page will contain more than 40 due to the stickies.

Thanks so much for that fire**fly, I had no idea you could sort them by end date. Been comping for a couple of months now and with so many comps to catch up on I decided to do it from the date I started, so was searching using that day's date (and then however many following days I could get through).
So helpful! :happyloveI'm a girlie whirlie despite my username0 -
Or to narrow it down you could search on a date eg search the board with E: 15/10.
It's not perfect especially on the last days of a month but saves scrolling through One-Eyes button returns of having a long page list.
It all relies on members posting in the standard format though eg spacing, punctuation etc0 -
I am using the 'Search' button then e.g. '08/01'
Is this correct?
Is there a better way?
Any help or advice would be great!xx:jStarted 2011

About 3 posts above this there is a 'sticky' with buttons provded, one of those is sort by end date, that may helpLuck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

You can also do an advanced search and only search titles, but it only brings up 300 posts so you may miss some, plus I find it doesn't always work on days that are the same number as the month- 2/2 for example.
The best way is as barnabysue has said. Click on the search by end date tab and then you'll have to scroll the the right page (around page 160 odd I think).

2013 wins so far = £4,025 :j

Hello
I used to do comps but stopped and I want to restart. I used to be able to sort the threads on the main board for that the ones ending soonest appeared first. However I can't remember how I did this.
I have saw the thread by weawoos (sorry if this is spelt wrong) but when I press ending soonest it doesn't go into order, its just random dates. Can anyone help me?
Thanks0 -
Hiya,
Pressing the button does seem to sort them as well as the board can.
Problem being the first page is just about filled complete with comp titles that are missing the space after the :
If you go to the second page you should start seeing them in better date order.0 -
I use the buttons at the bottom of the forum
Sorted By
Last Post Time
Sort Order
Descending
From The
Beginning
And change them to
Sorted By
Thread Title
Sort Order
Ascending
From The
Beginning
That starts with the first of every month followed by the 2nd etc (there will be a few at the start that are out of order because the title format is wrong), currently that puts those closing today about page 29)0 -
Is there away I can list the comps by the ending date? ..hope that makes sense
Getting Started (I)
2 Why can't I search for comps that are ending on a certain date?
2 Why can’t I search for comps that are ending on a certain date?
Unfortunately, the forum software isn’t specifically designed with comps in mind, it is only a small part of MSE. This means that certain functionality which we would dearly love to have simply isn’t available.
You can change the Forum thread order to sort posts by end date. Simply go to the bottom of any Forum page & on the left hand side is ‘Display Options’. Click on the ‘Sorted By’ dropdown & then select Thread Title. All 200 odd pages are now listed in Thread Title order.
Each thread will now be listed by the ending date used in the thread title. This means that the threads which end on a particular date will be grouped together - you will just need to find out which page they start from & then you are ready to enter comps for a particular end date.WARNING: If you are entering comps on the day or even the day before they end you run the risk that perhaps the comp has closed a little early & your entry won't be counted. Another thing to bear in mind is that the Board Guides volunteer hours of their time to keep these boards clear & running smoothly so sometimes comps which are ending today or perhaps tomorrow (in rare cases) may be moved to Game Over a little early - this is a task which has to fit around their real lives & also when they have some spare 'online' time.
SUGGESTION: If you really want to only enter comps right when they are ending then I strongly suggest you get a couple of days ahead of yourself to avoid the above.
Another method you can use for finding comps that end on a particular day is to do a couple of searches using Google or another search engine using each of the following:
"E:01/09" site:moneysavingexpert.com
"E:1/09" site:moneysavingexpert.com
This method will find the comps for the dates you have selected whether they are in Competitions Time Forum, or even the Game Over & Regular Competitions sub forums.
Please note, this is a good way to find comps that end on the date searched, Please be aware though, that it will bring up all comps including those that ended in previous years!
