Friday 3rd October - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending .
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Happy Friday DFW's
Just about to go and have (free) lunch and sit in the sunshine - will it be the last warm day of 2014?
Hope you are all enjoying your day too.

Hello
Gosh that was all a bit dramatic. Seems I have two accounts some how. MSE wouldnt let me link my Bob account to my new email address (which i've had 8 years), but I really didnt want to lose it. Thankfully have remembered my password but they wont allow me to link this account to the email address that is actually valid, my old one is from about 10 years ago pre marriage! Odd rules. I probably only set up the other one due to some glitch like this in the past.
Moan over.
So, the egg thing. No Poo is becoming a lot more popular, there has been a massive thing about it on twitter lately. So I thought I'd try. It isnt easy. Despite others saying they found the greasy stage to be over in a few weeks I am really struggling at around week 8. In terms of the cost thing, all its cost me so far is a box of baking soda & a bottle of cider vinegar. But as the greasy stage was persisting I tried egg yesterday for the first time. Whilst it made my hair shinier it didnt address the grease. So today I've tried with lemon juice which is supposed to cut through. I really hope it gets there soon! And yes the name is very amusing
So far today
1. Meals from stores.
2. Debating 'stretching' us on the butter we need. Ran out this morning. One thing I've been trying is waiting an extra day when things run out. Washing powder mainly. Dishwasher tabs a bit. Planning pancakes & bacon for tommorow breakfast so technically should be able to get away with not buying butter today.
3. Have been in touch with my old savings account provider to see about reinstigating a small DD each month to build up my emergency fund as that was desimated last year & I have struggled to get anywhere with it in the one attached to my account.
4. Not technically today but have managed to sort out a £248 refund from First Utility as they have been overbilling us for months. Not really their fault, seems EDF gave them the wrong starter reading. But it should help keep us out of our OD at the end of the month so yeh!
Right, am off before any further tech fails steal my day!

Thought I may as well check in with today's almost non-existent efforts:
*Shopped around for groceries. Still £10 over budget, but did not feel too bothered.
*Got out my trusty annual bottle of Stardrops & cleaned the half of the house I gave up on yesterday.
*Made bread.
*Planned a bit of a picnic for day out tomorrow which will defo save a few quid.
*Bought ingredients to do the rest of the season's preserving. The fruit is homegrown, bought sugar, vinegar, garlic, ginger, etc from Aldi. Also bought sack of pickling onions on market for £3.50.
*Found 2 really nice birthday cards in our local indie discount card shop & had remembered to take cash from our Presents Piggy to pay for them.
*Free leisure time spent finishing library book, casting on a sock, listening to music & sorting out a huge pile of magazines from my Mum.
*Updated budgets.
Have to admit that I had 'Tap Rage' in Aldi......Mr f was still having tap rage at home 3 hours later! Had to buy a new kitchen mixer tap this week. The one we wanted (most like the one we were replacing) was £239!! I thought that was way too much, so we bought a different one in the sale (fine but not as funky) & it has been professionally fitted. Then today, we found the exact same tap we wanted but wouldn't pay £239 for, on sale in Aldi for.......£49. Well, wouldn't you have had tap rage?? :-/
