  • I'm terrible for not putting money aside for tax as well - think I've got it cracked now, thanks to starting to use YNAB. Really tempting to throw the tax savings at the debts though!

    Hi CM,

    What is YNAB?

  • You Need A Budget - http://www.youneedabudget.com/ You can use the same method in a spreadsheet if you're reasonably handy with Excel, but I actually did buy the software and now have a budget for personal cashflow and a budget for business cashflow, it's been incredibly helpful. Think there are a few others on here who use it, BrizzleDFW does I know.

Thanks Caz, it looks really good. I might invest in it. I've been doing something similar on Excel but it's a faff and I'm not always near my computer. I believe you can sync it with phone and Ipad which would suit me down to the ground as I'm always on those.

  • Now 3 days into the YNAB 34 days free trial. I'm already set on purchasing this amazing tool. In 3 days it's helped me see light at the end of the tunnel for me.

  • Weighed in at group to morning after a horrendous week. Wasn't going to go but OH persuaded me to. In the end it was a 2.5lb gain which was not surprising but incredibly irritating!!!

    Back to 8.5lb lost.

Still, this is another week and I'm going for 6lb off. I want my 1 stone award!!!

Oh hooray, glad it's helped :T:T:T:T I'm always a bit hesitant to mention it, because I can come over a bit evangelical about it, but it's just SO good!

    Hi Caz,

This kind of thing is right up my street and I've been trying to recreate something similar on Excel, not even knowing that YNAB was all I needed. I'm loving it and feel so back in control.
OH and I went out for a meal yesterday and I didn't panic when I paid the bill because I knew it was covered.

Thanks so much for sharing! x

  • On DebtBust News,

My credit card debts are currently:

MBNA (0%): £2,125.00 (0% deal ends 02/2015 and is the one I need to focus on as it's for a car I no longer have!)

    Lloyds : £1,170.92
This is a business debt and I have the money currently sitting in my S@nt@nd3r 123 A/c waiting the payment date when it'll be cleared in full.

    S123 (0%): £2,334.70 - (0% deal ends 10/2015)
This is a strange one in that I actually owe myself!:rotfl:
I use this account to buy groceries and fuel as I get cashback when I do this. I was keeping an equal balance in my S@nt@nd3r 123 A/c to offset this but it's gone a bit awry lately. I'm going to use YNAB to make sure that by Oct 2015 I have £2,600 saved to just pay it off when the deal ends and then I'll be clearing it monthly, as YNAB will help me to keep this under control. Ideally until then, I need to keep the balance at as close to £2,600 (credit limit) as I can to maximise the interest earning potential in the current A/c. I regularly pay off a £500 chunk of this and then run it back up

So total CC debt £5,630.62 currently.

  • Morning all,

Chuffed to bits by the fact that I lost 3.5lb in group yesterday - 12lbs lost since 12th September. Please as punch!!

Money wise, I had a real income boost on Wednesday which means I am now starting to use October's money to finance November bills and we're only halfway through the month.
I'm having a weekend off and heading to the Midlands to do some Bellringing with good friends. YNAB tells me I have £115 budgeted for Bellringing so the night's stay in Premier Inn is covered, along with peal fees, meals and pub expenses. Not going to go mad, but I will be ensuring I have a relaxing time. But that's ok because it's covered by the budget!!

    Feeling in control

    Speak later....
