Wonga and DMP payments

After todays Wonga announcement that they are to £220 million which is loans to 330,000 customers, I contacted Wonga to ask a few questions.
1) I am due to make a payment on a DMP, should I make the payment or await news for the write off.
2) If a payment is made what will happen, will it be refunded.
The answer I recieved is yes make a payment and who knows what will or wont happen.
Wonga will contact affected customers on or before 10 Oct, so should I pay my monthly payment or await news and then if need to make a payment?
Equally does anyone know why companies make such braod, sweeping statements but dont work out the effects so actually no one knows what is hapening.

Hi Pete,
Who is your DMP provider?
If it's Step Change then they don't make payments until (I think) the 20th of each month so if your debt is wiped off then Wonga should return whatever they receive...
My advice is make your monthly payment to your provider as normal and if/when you hear from Wonga call your provider to avoid payment going out
I suspect they have to make a statement in such a way so it's coming from them and not being leaked (it sounds less bad), but that could be me making it up LOL
Good luck!

I had a DMP with Step Change but we had a few problems with it. So I took the brave step of contacting all the debtors and setting up a DMP by myself. Most take a Continious Authority Payment on my debit card.
Wonga prefer to be paid on line! So payment was due yesturday (I was unable to access the web) so after todays annoucement I contacted them.
Having read the annoucement on this web site it would seem I will have the debt written off. As it is 274 days in arrears.http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/loans/2014/10/wonga-busted-by-the-FCA-330000-to-have-their-loan-wiped?_ga=1.63523567.1785067763.1408218497Proud to have dealt with our debtsStarting debt 2005 £65.7K.

Ah, in that case don't pay them and send an email to their collections team advising why you have taken the decision to not pay.
From everything you have said and the press release I imagine your debt will be wiped
just make sure you keep the money you would have sent safe until you know just in case you need to pay it

I would stop that continuous payment authority immediately and pay them by standing order, that way you are in control not them!0
