New to this forum and not sure if posted in correct place... but had some problems with council not taking payments correctly (and me not reconciling bank atatements) but ended up having to pay them over £400 more than the actual tax that was due (which I did earlier this year)
Just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction as I have been told this is excessive...
Any help would be gratefully received.

I'm not sure if I understood your question correctly, were you on benefits? and did you not hand in your bank statements?
I know the council say that if you don't provide the correct information within 6 months then they will not give you trhe benefits you are entitled to.
but in some cases you can request a back payment if you give them a good reason.official dfw nerd club member no 214
