Barclays Pingit

Just tried to set up pingit on my phone with my cashminder account (it was previously set up but I had to restore my phone today and had to re-register on pingit) got all the way to the end and it said I wasn't eligible to use pingit. I assume this is due to the bankruptcy (Barclays removed my internet banking overnight and I assume they class pingit as part of online even though you don't need a Barclays account to use it)

yep - no mobile or app banking - no internet banking and no phone banking. Some on here claim staff have said the rules have been changed so that BR's do get these things but clearly the rule hasn't changed for all of us. You can get text alerts for low balances etc but they are 24hrs behind real time so not a huge amount of use. You can have a weekly bank statement though - just go into a branch and ask.0

Hi
When my Barclays online banking facilities were withdrawn, I just rang up, and the nice man reinstated it for me! Keeping everything crossed that it doesn't go off again!0 -
Thanks but I don't want to use my Barclays accounts - I'm closing them down.
Before I went bankrupt I linked my cashminder account to pingit and it worked perfectly but unfortunately at the same time as I went bankrupt i had to re-register pingit as my phone was having issues. For some reason it won't let me register and tells me I'm ineligible for pingit.
As you don't need a Barclays account to use pingit I don't see how Barclays count this as phone or Internet banking - it's just a way of transferring money from one account to another - neither of which needs to be a Barclays account.xxx Nikki xxx0 -
I have problems registering with Barclays Pingit too: Got to the end and verified my bank account but while Co-operative Bank, Nationwide Building Society, Vanquis Bank, Newday Ltd, J.D. Williams, Argos Card and Peterborough City Council can all verify my address, Barclays can't do it. So now I can only receive and not send until I take ID including passport into a Barclays branch. But basically they can stuff it because I don't intend to do that!0

I have a Co-operative cashminder and I have since 2009 (6 months too go can't wait) I use Barclays Pingit with no problems at all. I have to say it is very useful for me.I love green dots :T I hate red dots :mad:0

It would be very useful for me too but it's not an option: I'm sure everyone has heard of red tape. Barclays have scarlet tape. Now I know why I never attempted to get anything from Barclay's in the past. btw I just closed my Pingit account and good riddance.0
