Ok with alot of searching on hear and a friends technical help on date sheets ive got 3 options so far (cant believe how many panels and invertors there are)

All 4Kw systems

I share the reservations you expressed :-

The only thing putting me off is they have only been trading for 3 years according to company check and have changed the company name in that time. I dont want a company banging up a system and finding out in 5 years it was shoddy work and i need roof repairs. the price is about £1000 cheaper than a couple of the big boys who have alot healthier trading history (money in the bank ect) so possibly better backup if anything fails.
If you have any doubts about any of the companies (and it seems a tad optimistic to assume the 'big boys' might be any more reliable !) then you should ensure that they're offering an insurance backed warranty rather than just their own recognizance.

Is it, I wonder, possible to take out your own insurance policy against the eventuality of a company failing and its warranties evaporating ? If it were, then the cost of buying such a policy would be the best guide to whether a 'saving' that relies on a dubious warranty is worthwhile.

Lots of companies sprang up back in 2011 when the gravy train was in full swing and i believe that any that are still trading, even under a different name must be doing something right.

Indeed the installers of my first set of panels back in 2011 have gone out of business, stopped trading as the money taps were switched off.
It would be hard to believe that i'm the only one on this forum who's installers aren't trading anymore.
The ones i recommended are still trading, ok its only 3 years, but in that time there's been a hell of a lot of change due to the drop in FiT.

As for the kit, most panels are pretty much the same, they all do the same job, the one thing i wouldn't skip on though is a good inverter and as such had it been my choice your facing i'd go for the 2nd quote with the SMA.

I can vouch for those guys too, they've done quite a few installs in my area since myself and my parents used their services and we're definately happy with our installs.
