Going from temporary worker with agency to working direct for client...

I have been temping with an agency for the last couple of weeks based with the one particular client. The client recently asked me if I would be willing to stay on for another couple of months and I agreed. The agency spoke to me and said I would no longer be on their books as I would be moving to working direct for the client and so my arrangement with the agency finished last week and I am now technically working direct for the client.

However, I haven't been given a contract or anything by the client - should I have been? It may still be on it's way but I'm not entirely sure how this all works. I also haven't been given any information regarding annual leave, sickness policy, etc. etc. that you're usually given by HR. Neither have they taken my bank details for wages, or would the agency have provided them with that?

I would ask my now employer, however, I am actually still looking for permanent employment and I'm wondering if the fact I haven't been provided with a contract means I could technically still leave at a moment's notice (as if when I was temping via the agency)?

Ask for more details on what they mean by stay on a couple of months.

Agreeing to stay on without even knowing the pay rate.

Are you sure they were not just expecting you to stay as agency?
