Mortgage - Credit Score Query

Hi

I have a mortgage meeting with Nationwide on Tuesday, seeking to secure a mortgage for a property I have agreed to buy.

LTV will be under 60%.

I have downloaded a credit report from CheckMyFile.com and they have thrown up two issues:
- Not on electoral roll - I have been living in rented property since the start of the year, but only just registered for the electoral roll at my current address this week (via the portal on the government website).
- I have 3 arrears on a mobile contract from 2011 - these relate to a change in my salary payment date which meant I paid my phone bill a week late for three months running before realising.

Otherwise, my credit history is fine - I have 1 credit card which is paid off each month, an overdraft facility that's very rarely dipped into, equity in bank accounts, etc. However, my overall score appears to be low because of these two issues.

Can anyone advise if the above is likely to mean that I will be unlikely to be given a mortgage. I do all my banking with Nationwide and have another mortgage with them (which is self-financing) - will this reduce the impact of the electoral roll issue as they clearly know who I am?

Thanks in advance.

  • I'd be amazed if the missed payments on your phone bill had an impact at that LTV. With regards the electoral roll, is it possible to call your local authority to see if this can be expedited at all? I registered through the government portal when I moved myself around a month ago and it still isn't showing yet, due to the delay in credit referencing agencies reporting/checking the register.

Thanks Mark, It's the electoral roll issue that is really concerning me. I'll try calling the Council, but their website says it takes around a month minimum. Thanks for the response.

Were you on the electoral roll at your old address/es?

That will help if it's just a few months voters roll that is missing.

I was on the electoral roll at my old address and guess I still am until it transfers. It has been 9 months though. :embarasse
