Rapid jsa claim problem..

Hi guys!

I need your advice. I've had made a rapid claim for my jsa. So this afternoon I've received a letter from Glasgow northgate that:

"I am pleased to tell you that we can pay you jobseekers allowance from 15 September 2014. You will get £72.44 a week. However we cannot pay you jsa from 15 March 2015. Because you have as much or more money coming in than the law says you need to live on".

What a hell is that? Only reason I did a rapid claim as my potential employer was a scam and didn't offer me a contract. I was on a jsa 6 month before my rapid claim. I don't get it what "more money coming in" they mean? I only worked for 3 days and they got rid off me without my employment contract. What shall I do? Please help..

I'm not sure, do you have any other income? It sounds like when income-based JSA kicks in, you'll be over the limit. But... I'm not up to date with current benefits, hopefully someone else can help.

No I don't have any other income. I was for a year with jsa and then I've had found and worked for 3 days only. So a job centre paid me just only for 2 days and closed my claim. When a scam employer did not offer me a contract and got rid off me I made a rapid reclaim. So now I've read this letter. On my rapid claim appointment they did ask me provide again bank statements. But I didn't have any of income just jsa.

Do you have savings over £16,000 because if you have then you would not be eligible for income based JSA

No I don't have any of savings either. I'm confused.. Maybe my personal adviser will give some idea on this matter.

Yes, but they can't just accept that because you say so. If they ask to see bank statements, show them!

    See bold.

    Is this a typo - 15 March 2015?

We need your dates of when you were claiming JSA previously, when you stopped and started your job (from when to when and how much you were paid and when you stopped working.

Seems to me this is simply a notification of entitlement to Contribution based JSA which lasts for 6 months and will end in March 2015, after which the Op will go onto income based benefits if they have no other income in their household.
Its amazing how these banks can't even do simple calculations correctly..............

It may be intended as "simply a notification" but it doesn't read as one. I do agree that it is probably what was intended.
