Wages being paid late

I'm hoping someone can give me some advice - my 19 year old is working full time on an apprenticeship in an office -he is paid monthly on the last working day of the month - last month they didn't pay him until 5 days after the last day of the month- and then in 2 instalments and then he was due to be paid yesterday and shock horror he hasn't been - it's very frustrating as he has bills etc of his own to pay and lots of the people he works with haven't gone into work today as they are unhappy with not being paid again - he has gone in but still no wages as yet - is this illegal and what can we do?

  • Well there is statutory interest that could in theory be applied but it would be over a month before it is applicable & worthwhile
