Anyone else had this email? Came yesterday:
A £50 Tesco Gift Card just for you
Dear
With our new current account, you get more every day. Starting with a little welcome present of a £50 Tesco Gift Card when you are accepted for a new current account and switch to us by 9th November 2014. This offer is only available to a selected group of customers.
Here are some key features and benefits:
• Collect extra Clubcard points in and out of Tesco
• 3% AER credit interest on balances up to £3,000
• Free text and email alerts if you’re about to go overdrawn
• Online Banking and Mobile Banking App
• 24/7 UK-based customer service
• £5 monthly account fee which you don’t pay if you deposit £750 per month
Moving your everyday banking to us is simple. Once you receive your card you can be up and running within a week with the 7-day Current Account Switch Guarantee.

To find out more about the Tesco Bank Current Account exclusive offer, click here.

Best wishes,
Your Tesco Bank Current Account Team

The link doesn't mention the £50*, and there's no mention on their website either. So it's a little mysterious. And not clear how one applies, as there is no dedicated link and so no obvious guarantee that if I did open a new account and switch an old one that the £50 voucher would be honoured.

*Correction, the terms do say:
Additional Terms and Conditions

Clubcard number must be provided during application. One offer per customer. Not to be used in conjunction with any other offer. The Tesco Gift Card will be posted (no duplicates will be sent) to the account holder’s address 6 weeks after full switch is complete.

I do already have a Tesco current account - which makes it even odder, as they surely want new customers, not just the same ones.

Just found out that Mrs Zanderman has had the same email.

Unlike me she doesn't have a Tesco current account already - but doesn't have any spare accounts to switch.

Might try (myself) switching my (useless to me after incentive) M&S current account, assuming Tesco let me open another current account.

Some people have been offered 5000 club card points and some a £100 gift card.

I assume they're trialling incentives to see what the smallest amount they can get away with while still being effective is!
  • I received an email telling me about their 'exciting' current account, but no mention of vouchers :(

Thanks for letting us know and giving me a reason to not open an account yet.

Is it just club card holders receiving these incentive emails?

I'm opening four Tesco Current accounts in the next few weeks to replace the TSB Enhance accounts and this would be a nice little bonus.

Am a clubcard holder and also have recently (in the last month) opened two of these new 3% Tesco C/As.

Imagine my surprise to get one of these emails to suggest that there is a £100 giftcard waiting for me should I apply and switch.

Its not obvious to me if there are clauses here e.g. two DDs. Obviously I already pay £750 in a month into the two accounts.

So now the question - Ive plenty of spare CAs to switch - is anyone else who has accounts tried phoning and switching to get the £100 (or £50 etc)?

If so have you got a decent telephone number to switch?

    Thanks in advance

Just called and they have confirmed that you can still claim this promotion (as long as you have received the email) even if you already have this account BUT HAVENT SWITCHED YET.

Hence I'll be calling to switch next week!

I took a more precautionary approach and opened a definitely new (second) current account. Had to close my old Clubcard Plus account first (which they count as a current account and they only let you have two in total) but I never used that anyway (despite it offering extra CC points).

As mentioned earlier there's no mention of the voucher during application. They must be linking the emailed offer to the application via the email link or the Clubcard number. There's no email or any other communication to confirm this - so you have to be a bit trusting. And now to wait for '6 weeks after full switch is complete'.
  • Received the £100 giftcard last week.

    Great result
