Food safety

Options
Hello

I was going through my freezer & came across some products I had forgotten about& was wondering if they are still ok to eat.

They are sausages, burgers, & ready meals which where bought chilled in sealed packaging that is un-opened. I froze them as soon as I got them home before the use by date. The info states they can be frozen & used within one month & then de-frost. They have been frozen ever since. I also have chips bought in the same way with dipping salsa sauces in a separate container in the pack with same info regarding freezing & de-frosting. Will these be ok or have I learnt a lesson about wasting food & money.

Thanks

They'll be absolutely fine if they've been frozen the whole time. Once defrosted, give them a sniff (off meat if very pungent) just to be on the safe side if you're concerned. If you're still not sure eat a small piece. If it looks ok, smells ok and rates ok, it is ok. Things last an extremely long time in the freezer. The one month thing is generally because some of the texture can be compromised if it's frozen for a long time.
