Hiya,
I think I have cocked up big time. I booked a holiday before Christmas to Sharm el Sheikh for the end of this month. We then decided that we didn't want to go. About eight weeks ago someone from First Choice called and I explained and they asked me to email them - I didn't. I just presumed that I would loose my deposit. Today I have received a cancellation invoice which I don't really understand. It says :
Credit Card Clearance Fee : 1 @ -£1,071.82
Cancellation Charge : 1 @ £1,331.82
Total Holiday Cost £260.00
Amount Received £132.60
Balance Due £127.40
I have checked my credit card and no money has been taken out, but I don't know what it means. I paid £132.60 deposit and I understand that I need to pay £127.40 as it was a low deposit. I just don't understand the credit card and cancellation charge bit. Are they going to be taking this amount?
I'm so worried and can't stop crying. I have tried to call them but the phone lines are down. Can anyone please help? I have also posted this in the holidays bit..

Talk to your Credit Card Company and make sure that any payments are stopped/blocked.
I think, though, that it is just their way of saying that the total cancellation costs are £1,331.82 LESS £1,071.82 - i.e. £260, of which you have already paid £132.60, leaving a balance of £127.40 to pay.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

I agree with Rog, that's what I worked it out to be too.
