Or what is selling now. If you look at the product rank in Amazon when you find a discounted product in store, then use the FBA calculator to work out your margin, you could be good to go.

Do you import the products or make them yourself?

I think it can still work if you are buying in smaller quantities, such as 50 in store. £500 isn't to be sniffed at!

I would suggest it is too late to get in on a best seller once the market is already high, you will be trading against sellers with an established reputation who on amazon will have no hesitation in undercutting you to cut you out.

If you believe you can make that sort of,profit on items then good for you. I would suggest that the reason trading in quantity has been mentioned is that the profit margin is tiny. However if you can source products already selling well with that sort of profit then you shouldn't be asking for help on here.

We import some and manufacture some under our own brand.

The problem with small quantities is you could be sending in often, occurring shipping fees, or if they don't sell fast, you will be paying storage fees. This can soon eat in to your profit if you don't stay on top of it.

We usually send hundreds or thousands of several units in to FBA in each shipment. These are fast moving items that don't stay there for long.

Other products we tried and quickly withdrew them when we realised they were not going to move fast enough. You then need to have somewhere else to sell these on.
