Hi, hoping I can get some advice from you more knowledgeable people!
My situation is savings 4000 house for 80000 and joint application one earning 24070 been in job 5 years and one earning 20000 been in job 1 month previous job was three years.
Both have student loans and we have a car on finance for 167 a month both excellent credit ratings. We have also rented for 5 years and never missed any payments, What are our chances of getting a mortgage with one of us being in a new job?

Im sure continuous employment is what they look for. So although you've had two jobs in the past few years...it has been continuous employment. Was there much of a gap between the two roles?
I cant comment on anything else as a successful mortgage depends on a number of things.

Hi jljlg102, me and my partner were in a very similar situation about a year ago. Similar numbers as well.
Does the new job have a probation period? If so this could be a problem with some lenders. Natwest was an outright no, but Halifax were fine with it.
I suggest maybe a broker as they often know which banks to try!

Thanks for the replies guys. Seems quite realistic then it's good to hear of you own experiences, there is no gap in my employment so shouldn't be too much of an issue.
Seems like Halifax and a broker is the way to go. I'll let you know how we get on.0
