Feezing Celery . . .

Just the question:
Does Celery freeze if chopped please?

    Yes but it's not nice and only fit for adding to stews etc
  • You can freeze it as braised celery. Hope that helps.

    Yes, I use it in soups, pasta sauce, chilli and veg stew. Don't bother to defrost.

  • I don't bother blanching it, that just changes the taste and it is horrid.
    I slice it and put it onto an oven tray then open freeze it overnight, The next day I pop it into freezer bags and use it for soups and stews.

    Yes I freeze it but you can only use it for stews after. Its perfectly fine for that.

    Yes, it has so much water that when it freezes, the cell walls burst and it goes mushy. But it is fine to add a small amount to soups or stews (too much can change the texture).
    I freeze the leaves & tough outer stalks to use in stock as well.
