Moving house, BT says it's a 12 month contract, any way around this?

On a similar vein, why does it cost so much to move your broadband from one address to another.? I am moving in November and am with plusnet. I want to keep the same account but the fees are over £50 yet the previous person in the house had broadband. Anyway of avoiding this?0

But Tiscali will allow you to just move your calls and broadband to them ,without taking their line rental. Where as Talk Talk will not.
Unless something has changed very recently - its still possible to sign up to TalkTalk without moving your line rental - they just no longer advertise these options/prices on their website.
Not that I am recommending anyone join them!
