In a mess, need help

Ok everyone... I expect little sympathy here... I have got myself into a mess and it's been the weekend of hell.

Am not sure how to go on, but am hoping collectively, I can get some help here.

Four years ago, I lost my job and had debts of £9k... I had to go on a stepchange plan and have been on it ever since... however... at the time, I had 3 other cards which didn't have much on them, money I could manage... but that was then... sad to say, I have lived off these cards and yes, this sorry tales is to say that these cards are now at their limit and I am struggling to make the minimum payments on these cards.

The bottom line is, I don't know what to do. Do I declare these debts to stepchange, but then am afraid they will cancel my current argreement with then. My employment prospects are difficult due to my epilitec condition which prohibts me from driving.

Am at a loss, so any advice would be very appreciated.

You've kinda shot yourself in the foot, as one of the conditions for a DMP, is that you don't increase your borrowing.

That said, it sounds like you are close to defaulting, on this additional borrowing.

All I can suggest you do, is inform Stepchange, and see what they say/do.

If they turf you off the DMP, there's others you could try, or you could self manage.
  • As grim as I thought. :(
  • There are a reasonable number of jobs that don't require driving as well.
  • I had a job all set to go in the summer - however due to the nature of what the job was, it fell through, which is another sad tale - specially having had to attend 3 interviews. Let me assure you, I fastidously apply for work every day.
  • Get yourself an SOA put together and the great people here may be able to make some suggestions. Depending on your level of debt then a further DMP may not be the answer anyway...
  • The debt is basically about 5k... with 5k still on my current DMP...
  • Get yourself an SOA put together and the great people here may be able to make some suggestions.

I agree, there must be a reason you spent on those cards and the people here are wonderful at tweaking and nudging budgets to work out where savings can be made. No matter what happens with Stepchange it's important you get your spending under control so it doesn't get worse/happen again. Very best of luck!
