Confusion over London Underground (Paddington)

All this is why I ignored the circle line and just said to go to the Hammersmith & City station.
From there, any eastbound train - H&C or Circle - will go to Euston Square.
Avoid the District & Circle station, because if you don't have to get off at Edgware Rd, you're going the wrong way

Platform 16 is by far the best option, its an every 5 minute service from there to Euston Square with no changes required.
Services alternate between Hammersmith and City and Circle Line trains (one of each every 10 minutes making it every five minutes between Platform 16 and Liverpool Street via Euston Square and Kings Cross).
In the event you have luggage or any mobility problems a lift is provided to platform level. It is level boarding at Platform 16.
Escalator works at Euston affect routes to the Victoria line so worth avoiding in the short term (ruling out the Bakerloo Line option).0 -
What train are you on into Paddington? I assume it's a First Great Western train (London Overground don't go into Paddington).MoneySavingUser wrote: »Hi,
I am going to London in October and the event I am going to is near London Euston station.
I went to the National Rail website and booked some tickets.
On the main search page it showed the time I would leave and the time that I would arrive at my destination.
I will be going --> London paddington via overground --> Euston via underground.
As others have said, the time indicated for the LU journey isn't a departure time as such.MoneySavingUser wrote: »However the problem I have is the time that my train arrives at Paddington is the same time that I am supposed to depart from there to go to Euston - 20:37 so no time to get from one train to the other!!!
I suggest you take the Hammersmith & City Line, which isn't actually a deep tube line and is a normal railway line operated by LU, from Platform 16. This is a short walk over the footbridge from platforms 1-14. See http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/SME/html/NRE_PAD/plan.htmlMoneySavingUser wrote: »Additionally how easy is it to find your way from the overground trains to the underground trains in Paddington?
All trains from Platform 16 will go to Euston Square LU station, which is a short walk from Euston.
I don't suggest taking a deep level tube from the separate tube station at Paddington to get to Euston, as this involves escalators and stairs, and a change at busy station such as Oxford Circus.
Taking the sub-surface Hammersmith & City route from Platform 16 to Euston Square will be much easier, as well as quicker.0 -
I agree that they will go "direct" to Euston Square, from the Westbound platform, but by a very roundabout route, as they go west to Notting Hill Gate, south to Kensington, east to Aldgate, and then back West towards Euston Square, taking around 45 mins. Not recommended! If you go to the Circle (& District Line! I forgot that!!) platform Circle trains will go direct to Euston Square .. ..
There are no direct services from the Circle & District eastbound platform.0 -
Basic question but how do I make sure I am getting on the eastbound train? From there, any eastbound train - H&C or Circle - will go to Euston Square.
Yes it is FGWWhat train are you on into Paddington? I assume it's a First Great Western train (London Overground don't go into Paddington).

So I want to go along the 'grey bridges' and then to "Access to H&C Lines"?0 -

I haven't been on that line at Paddington for a few years but usually the platforms will be signposted Eastbound and Westbound.0 -
There's an eastbound platform. Anything from there. Each platform has a little diagram showing which stations trains go to.MoneySavingUser wrote: »Basic question but how do I make sure I am getting on the eastbound train?
Yes. If for any reason you find yourself swept along to the main concourse at the right of that diagram, there's another route along the top of the map via the sections marked 'Paved Area'.MoneySavingUser wrote: »So I want to go along the 'grey bridges' and then to "Access to H&C Lines"?
Don't worry about researching or memorising all of this. Just remember:- Find the Hammersmith & City underground
- Find the eastbound platform
