Returns advice needed!

Not really sure if this is the right thread (apologies if not) but I've been sorting through some clothes to get rid of some. Noticed a top I bought in New Look in July to go on holiday with. Turned out I didn't take it and it's just been forgotten about ever since :o

So I was just wondering if anyone has ever tried to return something past the standard 2 weeks or so? It still has all the tags attached.

Thanks in advance!

  • Most UK high street stores will allow you to return (although this is goodwill and they do not have to legally) but will only give you the latest selling price, so if its been reduced you'll get the reduced price not what you paid for it.

Im not sure that 'most' shops do allow extended returns anymore for a change of mind. Looking a at some of the major high street names , even Marks and spencer, they have quite strict rules for returns- most are within 28 days and most require the receipt.

No harm in asking of course as long as you have the receipt, but be prepared to be refused.

  • i returned a dress i bought to new look after a similar thing happened.
i went in and explained that i didnt have the receipt, but asked nicely if they could do anything.
they allowed me to return it, but the amount i got back was much lower than i had paid for it, as it had since been on sale.
also, they were only able to give me a credit note, which i thought was fair enough, and ended up spending it soon enough anyways...
