Hi,
have decided in a pv quote for a split roof array with 10 panels on one roof and 6 on the other but there is no mention of mppt's, aren't all inverters capable of handling a split array?.anyone have a similar set up?
thanks

No,they are not all capable, but any installer worth their salt would sell you such a ninverter for that set up.
What have you been quoted for?3.924kWp (12X327Wp SunPower). SolarEdge SE3500 inverter.

10 and 6 Canadian solar 250 panels as they are the ones to fit my roof to get 4kw and a powerone pvl 360 inverter for £5400
They offered a sunnyboy with other panels eg hyundai, solarworld but they are too big to fit any of course the price would have been nearer 6k. Should I insist on a sunnyboy prison the powerone a comparable inverter?0 -
I've not been able to find the exact inverter you quote, but the Powerone pvl 3.6 inverter (also known as an Aurora inverter) is a dual mppt with an efficiency of up to 96.8% - details here: http://www.cclcomponents.com/photos/pdf/PVI-3.0-3.6-4.2_BCD.00374_EN.pdf10 and 6 Canadian solar 250 panels as they are the ones to fit my roof to get 4kw and a powerone pvl 360 inverter for £5400

Hi Hinchie,
My parents had a split system(from CTS). They had the split exactly the same as your looking at(Canadians) but went with the sunnyboy. They had 6 east and 10 west and are over the moon. Cost was £5700 + extra for wattson solar plus and optiplug at cost times 2(one for me)2 kWp SEbE , 2kWp SSW & 2.5kWp NWbW.....in sunny North Derbyshire17.7kWh Givenergy battery added(for the power hungry kids)0 -
I've got a split SW SE system I think its 9 on one roof and 7 on the other (7 facing SW) which works great for me - slightly lower peak generation at noon than a pure South system, but we get a longer generation day to offset it.Adventure before Dementia!0

Mine's a split system - 10 panels face NE and 6 face SW (wish it was the other way round, but that's what my roof space allowed - wanting to maximise what I had).
They connect to the Aurora PowerOne PVI-3.6 which is indeed dual MPPT. During the height of summer - even with my panel orientations, on some days they maxed out the inverter, peaking at 3.601Kw4kWp system (Feb 2014) : 1.5 SW, 2.5 NE (16x Bisol BMO/250, Aurora Power-One UNO PVI-3.6 Inverter : pvoutput.org/list.jsp?id=299350
